🤝 The Collaboration Agreement Template

Copy and paste this into your first DM or project folder to make sure everyone is on the same page!

Project Working Title: [Insert Name] Primary DAW: [e.g., Ableton, Logic, FL Studio]

1. The Contributors

  • Member A (@Username): [Role: e.g., Lyrics, Vocals, Mixing]

  • Member B (@Username): [Role: e.g., Beats, Guitar, Mastering]

2. Ownership & Splits

Unless otherwise agreed, the standard starting point is an equal split.

  • Composition (Music/Melody): Member A [ %] / Member B [ %]

  • Lyrics: Member A [ %] / Member B [ %]

  • Master Recording: Member A [ %] / Member B [ %]

3. Credit & Promotion

  • Artist Name: [How should the track be credited? e.g., Member A ft. Member B]

  • Social Media: [Links for tagging when the track is shared]

4. Commercial Use

  • Distribution: [Who is responsible for uploading to Spotify/Apple Music?]

  • Expenses: [How will distribution or promotion costs be split?]

💡 Tips for a Smooth Session

  • Communicate the "Vibe": Share a reference track so your collaborator knows the energy you're chasing.

  • Stem Etiquette: When sending files, ensure they are dry (no reverb/delay unless it’s part of the sound) and labeled clearly (e.g., Lead_Vocals_Verse1.wav).

  • Deadlines: Be honest about your schedule. "I'll have it by Friday" is better than disappearing for two weeks!
